In the ThorCon Molten Salt Reactor design, liquid fuel can be drained out from the core and stored in a draining tank placed below. In this context, Milano Multiphysics has studied the reactivity evolution of the fuel salt during its draining.
A coupled neutronic-CFD model is implement to fully describe the reactivity as a function of the of the free surface height of fuel salt.
