We were commissioned by ENTSO-E – the European TSO network – the implementation of a reanalysis model capable of estimating statistical inflows for all the hydroelectric power plants of the European Union.
Preliminary results were presented at ENTSO-E Workshop: Weather Data for Economic Studies in Bruxelles, while the final results are used in european electric grids adequacy assessment.
Our methodology is based on Reduced Order Models and Artificial Neural Networks. Despite them being data-driven and physics-agnostic, geographic and physical features emerge naturally in the properties of our models: this ensures that our predictors can grasp the real physics behind the problem.
